Cynthia
Dr. Cynthia Vascak is a Professor Emeritus of Art and Education at Plymouth State University. She has taught Graduate and Undergraduate courses and provided Professional Development for educators in the areas of Art Education, Integrated Arts Curriculum and Instruction, Multidimensional Assessment, Creativity, Art Education, and Studio Art. She was Coordinator of the BS in Art Education, developer of the MAT in Art Education, Chair of the Art Department, and most recently the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Cynthia is the designer of the Integrated Instructional Model which was awarded a half million dollars by the Federal Department of Education. She was the recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Teaching award in 2003 by Plymouth State University faculty and students.
Cynthia earned her BA degree in Literature and Fine Art at Pan American University and her Master of Fine Arts at the Boston University School for the Arts. She earned her Ph.D. degree from the University of New Hampshire Graduate School of Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. She has also studied Fine Art at the Boston Museum School, Concordia University in Montreal, the University of Quebec, and the Escuela Nationale de Belles Artes in San Miguel d’Allende Mexico.
She has integrated Mindfulness practices and the cultivation of communities of care throughout her work as an educator and artist. Currently, she a certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Educator from the Brown University Center for Mindfulness and a certified Mindfulness Facilitator from the Copper Beech Institute. She volunteers with community health hospice and mindfulness facilitation.
Surrounded by the beauty of nature, she lives in northern New Hampshire.
